No #Skam

When I was having dinner with a friend in Oslo, I had no idea what I was “getting myself into” when I agreed to go to a restaurant I had never heard of. She has introduced me to a lot of nice places in town, so I had no qualms. As the huuuuge Skam fan she is, it turned out she brought me to a restaurant owned by the real-life family of Even (apparently that’s what his name is – I have seen like 5 minutes of the TV show, and basically have no idea 🙂 ). Apparently this place, like a lot of other places around Oslo, has become Mecca for the die hard fans, and some lucky ones run into their hero here as well. And there is definitely no shame in this restaurant. Ett bord, which opened in mid-November last year, has a really cool look to it. The owner told us they wanted to create the feeling of visiting someone’s home. And you definitely feel like it when you are welcomed with a handshake, and he offers to take your coat and places it on a rack similar to the one you have at home. We are also all placed at one long table. No room for being shy. But it still didn’t feel like people where intruding on you or your conversation. On the menu you’ll find few dishes, which are changed from time to time. We had the choice of pasta with broccoli and salsa verde, apple and celery salad, Arctic cod and creamy fish soup. It all looked delicious, and ours was really good! Another thing they hands down know is customer service. We had not made reservations, and were initially turned away. But as I was waiting for my friend to arrive, the waiter came over to let me know that they had reorganised the seating, so they were able to make room for the two of us anyway. What about that! And during dinner the owner came over to chat, to ask what we liked about the place, thanking us for coming and for contributing to creating a good mood, and when leaving saying goodbye with yet another handshake. All I can say is GO!!

This place is in downtown Oslo, but still a bit off on a small, quiet pedestrian street. Get directions!

  1. There are very nice restaurants elsewhere, but sometimes the attitude is : if you don’t like it, someone else will…Thus you see, this is the kind of establishment that get people coming back and again! We know you enjoyed it. You should have!
